Snap gauge is used to test diameter and thickness/ width of cylindrical parts such as shaft.

The entrance of snap gauge is GO gauge. Lower the gauge vertically onto the test item.

The width of the gauge gets smaller as passing the GO gauge. This area is NOGO gauge.

When the gauges stops at this NOGO gauge position, the test item is accepted.

In testing with snap gauge, the gauge is lowered by its own weight.

There are two types of snap gauges

‘STEEL TYPE- Only the measurement area is quenched

.CARBIDE TYPE - Carbide material is attached to the measurement area
